The Role
I truly enjoyed my internship. It is very well structured from the training week to the last day. I only had good experiences with people working there and most importantly I liked coming at the office in the morning and loved the work.
My team was always here for me, to answer my questions, giving me pieces of advice for my work or my career in general. The level of details in the feedback you receive is impressive, you really feel that they want you to succeed and improve.
You need to approach them and not the opposite which is normal. I never had the feeling I was bothering them or eating their time. They always took it with me which was very enjoyable. Do not hesitate to ask questions and get involved into the daily activities of your team.
I always had something to do. I got involved in different kind of projects every week but also in smaller ones during the earning season. The final presentation you need to prepare made one week particularly more intense although my manager took it into consideration.
I ran an analysis on day one which I thought would be for the use of my manager but I was actually answering a client request. From there, I knew that my work would matter. I also got the opportunity to manage certain events (results, conf. calls) on my own which shows that they trust you.
Obviously you get better at excel meaning you are faster and more creative. I could compare the way we model at university and how valuation was done professionally which was incredibly helpful. You get better at presenting information but also researching primary or secondary data.
The Company
People are all very friendly. They work hard and do not pause very often but when they do it is always pleasant to be around. You never get bored as you are surrounded by people passionate by the market. Market developments are very often of source of discussion and shared analysis.
It was very well organized. The training week got us all together and gave us introduction to banking in general but also soft skills. Each week we had someone coming to talk to us (Olympic gold medallist, polar explorer etc.) and within our respective division, meetings were organized with senior managers and analysts to get us familiarized with all the aspects of our business.
They do invest a lot in you and want you to succeed. For instance, we got the opportunity to spend time and assist to training session with the graduate program. We have a lot of resource available online and they encourage you to rotate and explore as much division as you can.

I really would like to get an offer. This is the area I like in a bank I like. The business itself is in transformation due to new regulation but a new strategy has been set up for some time. I believe the bank will be one of the few major names in this area as research due to the investment that have been realized, the forward looking vision of management and the quality of its analysts.
The Culture
There was a very good atmosphere with all my fellow interns. Within my area, you never really felt the competition. Everyone was helping each other and giving its best. Depending your division, you may not see very often the rest of the cohort. However, a trading game running throughout the internship helps you to maintain contact with people outside you area which is nice.
London is an expensive city so you know what to expect. You spend around £8 for lunch outside and the same for a drink after work. But we had several events outside the office which were offered by the firm.
London is a great city to go out although you don't really have the time and energy to go out during the week.
The firm is know for its many associations and its activities. However as an intern, it is not really feasible to get involved in such a short period of time.
