The Role
It was a great opportunity to get an insight into project management within a bank. It was really interesting as I learnt a lot about how such a big organisation as Lloyds operates, as well as I developed my skills, built meaningful relationships with people across the division and worked on exciting projects.
They really helped my development during my time here as they always shared their opinions, recommendations and feedback with me so I could always incorporate into my actions and behaviours what they were saying. They were really involved in my internship.
The support was really incredible as the working environment is made of friendly people who always dedicate their time to help or guide you. Whenever I had a question I could ask anyone from my team and they would help me. As well I had weekly catch-ups with my manager where I was telling her what I did so far and she would give me her feedback and future guidance.
I always had to work on different small tasks whilst focusing on the big project that I had to deliver. The working hours were really acceptable from 9 to 5 with the opportunity to stay longer if you wanted to. Whenever I had free time though I would offer my support for my team members and ask if I could assist with anything.
I worked as a Project Management Office intern and I had the opportunity to work on projects that connect to the bigger picture of the organisation. During my placement I had to deliver one big project but in the same time I assisted and supported analysts and managers with different tasks and projects.
I had to complete a series of online trainings in my first week in order to learn about the bank's ethics, rules and how I should manage various scenarios. I improved my presentation and communication skills as I had to interact with project and programme managers on a daily basis.
The Company
It was relaxed and friendly, I thing which I do not think it is easily found in other organisation,. They were hard-working but they also made jokes so overall it was a pleasure to be in the office. Also they were really supportive whenever I had a query or problem.
I would expect the tehnical part to be more well organised in terms of setting up my account and getting everyting in reagards to this done faster. In terms of my responsabilities and weekly catch-ups and feedback it was good, everything was clear and I knew what to expect.
You had to complete a series of online mandatory trainings at the beginning of the intenrships to leanr about bank value, money laundering, etc., a lot of subjects so that was good. As well you could always shadow people from other team to find out about what they were doing.

The Culture
Yes, I lived with the other interns so in terms of this it was really. We would always hang out together and also we did the business challenge together for charity. We had plenty of opportunities as well to meet with current graduates and find out about their experience at Lloyds.
The accommodation was paid by the bank so no stress about that. I lived in the city center of Cardiff. It terms of going out it was way cheaper than other major cities in United Kingdom. The other costs such as grocery, clothes, public tansport was pretty much the same as other cities.
It was amazing as I lived with the other interns right in the city center of Cardiff so we had plenty of opportunities to go out and have fun in a variety of clubs, pubs, restaurants, Also there were weekly concerts and shows at venues, as well as a wide range of activities for every taste.
