The Role
I enjoyed the placement, the work was interesting, and I also found that I got a lot of information and experience that I can take away and implement of my future years at university and also my career.
I felt quite valued by my colleagues, I was always included in conversation and decisions and there were lots of great opportunities to get to know them, such as going for drinks after work and social events etc
I was given more support by some managers/advisors more than others, but this was understandable as its a very busy company, and the colleagues that offered more help often went above and beyond expectations.
I was reasonably busy, although I did often find there were periods where I had no work, but I often wonder if I could have spoke up more and asked for more work.
I was given enough, and I was assured by many people that if I ever felt like I wanted more then I just had to ask.
I learnt a lot in my sector which was relevant to my future 4th year project next year at university, and when I explained to my managers what I was doing they went out of their way to try and get me contacts who were experts in the field so that I could ask questions and learn more, and I found this amazingly helpful.
The Company
The atmosphere was great in the office, everyone was really friendly and it was easy to get along with all my colleagues.
I feel the internship could have been better organized, with me having more work etc. but I understand that the department I was in has not been taking on summer interns for long, so it will probably be a learning experience for both parties, and I get the impression that they are always looking to improve
I feel like the company invested a fair amount in training, with the company even getting people in to speak about chartership to the summer placements and the graduates, showing that they were considering my future beyond the summer
Company Parties/Events
Staff Sales/Staff Shop
I feel like I would enjoy working for the company again, and it has even made me consider changing my initial goal of wanting to work in the automotive industry since the people and the atmosphere was so good.
The Culture
It was ok, I went out a fair bit with the ones in my department, but not the others in the company
The cost of living in London was horrendous....
It was good
Yes, there were company run things like volleyball etc
