The Role
I thought the work was varied and interesting which made the days seem short and kept me thinking. I felt relaxed at all times able to choose when to eat, break, arrive and leave. Everyone I met was very friendly which further helped me enjoy the placement. I feel I would continue to enjoy my time for many months to come.
Colleagues were at all times friendly and helpful. They seemed eager to ensure I got the most out of my placement while avoiding trying to burden me with excessive workload. Colleagues were also forgiving of minor mistakes and very receptive to questions and requests.
My line manager somewhat delegated most of my 'looking after' but I always had people I could ask for work from and to talk to about support on tasks and more. I was also kept informed of various events and opportunities by management and my colleagues in general. Overall I have no complaints as I felt if I wanted support or guidance I could easily ask for it.
Mid way through the placement I began to run low on work to do for my department but after asking around there were many people in other often smaller 'departments' to help out with in addition to my core role. Perhaps a more formal way of locating more work would be helpful but it is not a major issue and colleagues would probably be able to refer you if you asked.
I was more in a support role than making big decisions. However I did feel my contribution mattered. During my time on the placement I did produce work that would be used and helpful for long after I left so in that way I was responsible. The risk was very low and so long as I was careful and I did not feel under much pressure.
The skills will be very useful it's an insight into the working world. More than an insight you are living the life of a JLR employee and during your time you will practice practical office skills and have a greater knowledge of what would be useful to learn when you come back to university. Presentation, planning, concentration, IT, ect are a base few you will learn but also more specialised ones depending on your area. Excel skills is often a sure bet.
The Company
Very relaxed and pleasant. People would chat. The facilities were good with quality toilets, desks, cafeteria ect. The rooms were well air conditioned. Meeting rooms were well equipped. It was easy just to walk over to colleagues desks in order to talk to them about work or leisure. The site (Gaydon) itself wasn't unpleasent to walk around with lots of fancy cars everywhere.
Good but with room for improvement to be sure. The undergraduate offsite day which I thought sounded fun was cancelled and I was originally assigned the wrong placement. It might also be nice to make sure departments have everything set ip for the undergraduate before they arrive so they don't encounter excessive IT or access problems without instruction on how to resolve them.
I feel had I been staying longer than 3 months more would have been invested in me. However my colleagues did an excellent job in teaching me what I needed to know in order to fulfil my role. There were also training resources and courses available which with some effort to to arrange and undertake them would enable anyone to learn specific new skills required or otherwise.

Very appealing I will certainly be doing the Jaguar Land Rover graduate scheme. The company seems lovely and on it's way up and I like the location (Midlands). I think there are a great deal of opportunities here and the pay is good for a graduate scheme. I also think I will continue to enjoy my time here and plan to stay on for a while!
The Culture
It depends. If you live in the large scale city accommodation then there are plenty of opportunities to interact and socialise with the other interns. If you live at home or alone you are much more limited and would need to talk to and arrange with the interns you meet at work which may be many, a few, or none depending on your location and role.
Coventry is reasonably cheap. The food at Gaydon I thought was a little on the pricey side but alright overall. Buses were cheapish but not as cheap as getting a lift and paying a bit for a little petrol here and there. Tesco, Lidl and Sainsburys were all within walking distance of my accommodation in Coventry so I did not want for reasonably priced food during my time here.
Wouldn't know not my cup of tea! I have heard Kasbah is good thought.
Again it depends. If you live in the large scale city accommodation then there are plenty of opportunities to go out and socialise with the other interns. If you live at home or alone you are much more limited and would need to talk to and arrange with colleagues you meet at work which may be more difficult.
