The Role
I truly enjoyed it! My team made me feel welcome, and they were helpful and supportive throughout the internship. I found what I want to work with full-time.
My team was very open and wanted to get to know me. Always willing to answer my questions regarding work, career, life etc.
I received support and guidance continuously throughout the internship. It was a combination of me actively asking for feedback as well as my manager checking on my progress on a regular basis.
I was busy but not overwhelmed. There is always something to do on the desk so I never experienced sitting around without a project.
I felt highly valued by my colleges as they gave me increasingly more responsibility and used my results in their work. When I finished the original project and the quality met the standards, they gave me more challenging assignments and trusted my work.
Communication skills as I had the opportunity to interact with all levels of employees across different apartments, clients, and executive boards and investor relations for companies. My analytical skills improved and they showed me different ways of thinking about an investment idea.
The Company
I was in research so the atmosphere is quiet and relatively calm. Everyone is very helpful and its an open environment where you are expected to ask other teams questions that will enhance your research.
It was well organized, no negative experience in this regard.
Merrill Lynch is keen on providing you training as long as you ask for it. I have received training in, for example, Bloomberg, DataStream, and writing skills. My manager was open and supportive of me wanting to get training that will enhance my performance.

The Culture
I interned in London which is relatively expensive but there are cheaper areas to live in as well. I know other interns managed to get student housing that are cheaper than renting an apartment.
