The Role
10 weeks really flew by and I wish I had more time to spend with LBG. I appreciated the perfect balance between responsibility and support and I had a very straightforward relationship with most of the colleagues. Exposure to the Group and to Senior Management has been great and I believe will benefit me for a long time.
All the colleagues welcomed me from the very first day and communications. I even got useful referrals from very Senior Managers to go and meet other colleagues in different business area that they saw beneficial for me. I was never treated like a stranger and always included and trusted with all the team projects.
Weekly 1-1s and daily updates via email/call. Amazing support and ongoing online training opportunities.
Very busy, both at the office and traveling. However, I was always asked to what degree I wanted to get involved and if management has been very mindful of giving me a good wok-life balance. In fact, when undertaking trips I was able to go home earli to allow extra time for travel
I was given the responsibility I was asking for. You might need to put yourself forward a lot, as things will not come automatically; however, if you show you are keen on taking some more work/responisbility it will be appreciated.
Training was outstanding, as well as training online opportunities (you just need to have the time to do it). Managers are very supportive on personal development and will guide you trough completing self-assessments and Balanced Scorecards. Feedback is prompt and sincere.
The Company
Lots of charity activities like bake sales and raffles. Most people are using the office on an hot desk basis and it might be confusing. There will not be too many people in the office at the beginning nor the end of the week as everybody is allowed flexible working and generally needs to travel quite a bit.
Poor support from the dedicated team, both for managers and interns. If you had a serious issue though, help was very quick and efficient.
If you demonstrate that you are actually learning and apply your knowledge, answer the right questions and are punctual the group will invest a lot of resources; both human and financial.
