The Role
Really enojyed my internship - I learnt alot and there was lots of variety.
The work I was doing was useful and I felt that my colleagues valued it as an important contribution. The whole internship I felt like part of the work force and not just an intern.
My line manager was friendly and approachable. I felt at ease speaking to her and asking questions. All the in-charge accountants out on jobs were also very friendly and helpful. They made an effort to give me stimulating work and guide me through it when I needed help.
Really good balance. I always had work to do but was never under too much pressure to keep my deadlines.
I was taken out to work on a client's site on my 4th day. I worked with a total of 6 different clients and completed work that was useful and formed part of the Audit process. I felt that I was being trusted to give a good impression of the company
I was even sent to a two day presentation skills course at the Grant Thornton's training centre which was a valuable experience and one that I will be able to use during the rest of my degree. I gained alot of confidence from liasing with clients and gained technical knowledge accouting. I feel that I got very much out of it that I can deploy to my studies and beyond.
The Company
Normally a fairly relaxed atmosphere in the office. Out on cleint's sites the atmospere can be different depending on the situation but it was allways friendly and upbeat.
It was obviously quite intentional of Grant Thornton to send me to such a variety of clients, so I could get more out of the experience. The training course at Bradenham was carefully selected so as to be one which would be useful in our studies. I was given the relevant IT equipment and login details which had been prepared for my arrival.
The firm spent alot on my travel expenses, they invested a lot of time to make sure I was given support and stimulating work.

Company Parties/Events
Applied for the graduate position and have been offered the role, which I will accept.
The Culture
There were events organised during my time at the office, such as a quiz night, national football tornament, leaving drinks for people moving on...
Ipswich is not too expensive.
Ok nightlife but I wasn't interested in going out at all.
There was less going on outside of work than I expected but this is due to it being a small office. There were still things I did get involved with though such as a quiz night.
