  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • Was given exposure to challenging tasks which allowed me to develop market knowledge knowledge and learn new technical skills

  • I Was delegated work from a variety of individuals inside and outside of my team, and was integrated into various long term projects

  • I was allocated a 'buddy' and a supervisor, which were supportive of my professional and social development within Mercer

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • Started off slow for the first few weeks, but quickly picked up when I gained peoples trust and was allocated longer term project based work

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • Following the above, responsibility increased throughout the internship as a result of effectively completing previous tasks

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • Various computer modelling skills gained will contribute to my practical elements of my degree - Training on the investment consultancy and asset management industries was also provided, which will hopefully contribute towards my dissertation

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • Hard working, but friendly. Employees are focused on their job but have assisted/advised me whenever I have requested

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • The internship was structured with long term group project and charity fundraising activities, with preliminary training for 2 days. I would have enjoyed some sort of planned event mid-internship for the interns to meet industry professionals and network with other interns.

  • 2 days of training was provided at the start, to guide us through basic technical knowledge, and introduce us to the business functions

  • The graduate job allows you to earn a professional qualification (CFA or actuarial), and offers a generous salary

  • Interns and graduates were friendly and regularly organised events

  • Central London doesn't come cheap

  • Huge variety of Pubs/Clubs/Bars etc

  • Yes, social clubs and events were regularly advertised
