The Role
Was given exposure to challenging tasks which allowed me to develop market knowledge knowledge and learn new technical skills
I Was delegated work from a variety of individuals inside and outside of my team, and was integrated into various long term projects
I was allocated a 'buddy' and a supervisor, which were supportive of my professional and social development within Mercer
Started off slow for the first few weeks, but quickly picked up when I gained peoples trust and was allocated longer term project based work
Following the above, responsibility increased throughout the internship as a result of effectively completing previous tasks
Various computer modelling skills gained will contribute to my practical elements of my degree - Training on the investment consultancy and asset management industries was also provided, which will hopefully contribute towards my dissertation
The Company
Hard working, but friendly. Employees are focused on their job but have assisted/advised me whenever I have requested
The internship was structured with long term group project and charity fundraising activities, with preliminary training for 2 days. I would have enjoyed some sort of planned event mid-internship for the interns to meet industry professionals and network with other interns.
2 days of training was provided at the start, to guide us through basic technical knowledge, and introduce us to the business functions
The graduate job allows you to earn a professional qualification (CFA or actuarial), and offers a generous salary
The Culture
Interns and graduates were friendly and regularly organised events
Central London doesn't come cheap
Huge variety of Pubs/Clubs/Bars etc
Yes, social clubs and events were regularly advertised
