    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • It was a struggle a times, but that was only due to the huge jump from university to working long hours. Apart from that, the learning curve was huge and I thoroughly enjoyed the experience.

    4/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • It was very easy to get along with colleagues. Many people treated you like their friends from day one, and it wasn't an intimidating environment.

    5/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • My supervisor's from both rotations gave me a lot of support. Especially my 2nd manager who set me projects that enhanced my development. Not too much support from HR, but that was expected as manager's were meant to be providing us with support. HR did host a couple of events that were interesting.

    4/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • Mostly quite busy. I would say that there were only a couple of days where I found my self looking for things to do - but that was only once or twice (probably due to the fact it was August, which is a quite season)

    5/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • On my first rotation, I was quite involved, working on main project which the team themselves were working one, so that was great! My second rotation was a bit harder to take on a lot of responsibility, but the projects set allowed me to develop key skills, so it definitely made up for the lack of responsibility.

    4/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I definitely developed skills for life. It was great that I was constantly learning, from communication skills, to technical skills and so, it was a huge variety of what I could learn. I think this internship has left me prepared for the working world, and will allow me to focus on what's important in my final year, so that when I start working, I am fully prepared and know what to expect.

    5/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • Both rotations were sociable, and so, it was easy to talk during the breaks. Working with people who are sociable made it much easier when you wanted to take a break from your screen,

    5/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • Organisation was good, however, a couple of events were organised last minute and placed on "Guidebook", the app we were using during the internship, and so, it was difficult to keep track. Apart from that the work placement itself was quite well organised.

    4/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • I felt the firm invested in us quite a lot, there were a couple of events which allowed for personal development, The best area for personal development however, was on my desk, and so, that could depend on the type of manager you get.

    5/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • 3/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • I would love the chance to get a job at Citi. It is quite competitive, but if one works hard it is possible to get the job.

    4/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • There were drinks every week, but that was organised by the interns themselves on a whatsapp group. I think HR should have definitely organised more social events for us, as we barely had the opportunity to see our fellow interns.

    3/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • We got paid for the internship, and so, relative to the amount we were paid, socialising and living was not too expensive. I would say the cost range people paid for accommodation in neighbouring areas was between: £180 - £220 a week.

    4/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • I personally didn't go out much, so don't have an opinion on this,

    3/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • Not really. I went out once with my first rotation, which was fun, but that was organised by the team themselves. HR only organised a couple of networking drinks, and there was one "Crystal Maze" type activity day, which was good, but apart from that there weren't really any activities.

    2/5
