The Role
I loved the internship – it was in exactly the right place I wanted to be! Last summer I was in another business area which was enjoyable for ten weeks but I couldn’t see myself enjoying it as a lifelong career. Whereas, where I’m placed now is great in terms of opportunities to move around and find new areas that I will enjoy!
I certainly feel valued by my colleagues – they send me over work they need a hand with, and always come over for a chat. In response to a power point I created, a few colleagues came back to me with great feedback commending how easy it was to read and that they liked the fact It wasn’t overloaded with data.
I have a line manager and another Buddy who is in our team too, so there is always someone around that I can ask for help. In addition, the management team are very approachable and have asked me to complete work for them too, which makes me feel valued in the team.
The internship had a slow start with mainly ad hoc work, but as it progressed I was assigned bigger projects which were more enjoyable. The workload varies and a lot of the time, lots of work comes at once! I have also been kept busy by the charity challenge for interns.
A fair amount
I have definitely improved in my confidence, for example I am more comfortable picking up the phone or approaching others on the floor. I am also more confident at asking for help or if I can shadow others. My research and presentation skills have also been enhanced which will be useful at uni. Also I have learnt a lot about how to manage a team through the charity challenge.
The Company
Very chatty and nice colleagues, and there is always a buzz. This is a Sales team and so they are on the phone with clients a lot which means the office is rarely quiet, and I like this atmosphere. The days have gone very quickly and I have enjoyed working in such a lively, fast-paced environment!
It was well organised although sometimes it was tricky to split up work as there are two interns in this team - we had the option of either splitting up the work (which would take more time in terms of collating it all at the end), or one of us did all the work which may have left the other with nothing to work on.
We had webinars but I didn't find these very useful

Definitely appealing - I would love to return and work for this company as it has a great reputation and it is easy to move around within. Above all, the atmosphere and the people are really friendly which makes it the best place to work! I look forward to coming in to work during the mornings.
The Culture
Our team of colleagues had a conference followed by a social event a month ago which was great fun! Also there are regular events after work as an opportunity for interns to get to know each other, such as drinks. In addition I am going to an intern networking event this afternoon.
I am living at home (one hour commute from my workplace) but I have heard that living costs are pretty high. In terms of socialising, the costs are pretty high for food, drinks etc, especially compared to uni. This is why I am put off by attending all of the socials.
London is a really great place in terms of nightlife and socialising, and hence this has been a great opportunity for interns to get to know each other better. However one downside of London is that prices are high! But the range of places to go out to is impressive.
Not that I know of, just a couple of events
