The Role
I enjoyed the working environment, supportive attitude, the values, the wide range of training and variety of techniques that I was trusted to use. However, it was very stressful at times.
I feel that I was trusted to take on a lot of work and analyse the data appropriately.
Support was always there when I asked for it as well as bi weekly meetings with my supervisor to ensure I was ok and on the right track.
Very busy
Given the responsibility to perform analysis with short time frame to support submissions and clinical trials.
The skills I have developed within AstraZeneca's analytical department have given me the confidence and independence that I lacked coming into my placement. As well as this I now have a great technical and practical understanding of most common and some uncommon techniques of chemical analysis.
The Company
Very supporting, positive and understanding.
My student project was relatively unspecific and took longer than anticipated to find achievable goals and data sets to use. This meant that I started project work later than most others. All work completed outside of my student project was well organised and explained.
A large amount of time was spent training and educating. The company encouraged me to experience job types outside of my own, my team and my department. ever staff member that I encountered were willing to take time out of their day to help me when I needed it.
Flexi Time
Sports and Social Club
Company Parties/Events
Although I am focused on completing a PhD, job prospects and career options within AstraZeneca are very appealing.
The Culture
All ok to get along with. Many events organised.
House prices were higher than expected.
Small town night life. Manchester 20 minute train journey away for only £3 return ticket!
Team building exercises, nights out, clubs and social events.
