The Role
I really enjoyed the internship. Great flat structure and people very reachable. You are given the opportunity to work on two different desks, 4 months each and everything is done so you can meet as much persons as possible, even heads of teams.
You are highly valued by your colleagues, they take time to teach you things, and help you through the process at any point in time. Also, you have a desk buddy, with which you are guided along the internship.
You have a line manager to who you have to report to, and a desk buddy. They take into account your preferences, so you can be assigned to a desk you want, a project you like. Also, they try to favour meetings with you and other teams.
It really depends on the day, but you have time to work on your daily tasks and meet a lot of desks as well. Everything is done to favour networking, and at the same time, have time to finish your projects.
You are developing tools that are used later by your colleagues, so it's pretty rewarding to ask you to do projects that have a real importance on each desk. Also, for each rotation, you have the opportunity to work on a project and present it to the whole team,
In my case, I finished my studies before coming here, so it's kind of exceptional. But you are developing a lot of skills depending on the desk you are affected to: coding, presentation skills, theoretical skills etc....
The Company
Overall, the atmosphere is great and everything is done so we can meet other people and know each others. The flat structure there allows to improve the atmosphere within the bank
I honestly think the internship is great. It is the flag program for main recruiting here, so the HR department has a lot of room to develop this program and has already accomplished a great job doing it.
A lot. Employees are giving up a lot of their time to invest in you and chose the future graduates. The bank also organizes a lot of social events to make you feel wanted by the bank and enjoy your internship placement.
Subsidised Canteen

Great. I also think it's a bank which has one of the highest conversion rate. The firm put a lot of emphasis on developing their employee careers since the beginning.
The Culture
Yes, nearly all interns are very sociable, And as said earlier, everything is done so you get along well with your students/colleagues fellows.
The main workplace in London is located in Saint Paul, which is great, but also expensive if you want to find a place nearby during the summer. The cost of housing is around 1,000£ per month and you can add an other 1,000£ to live well during the internship.
There are plenty of bars in the area: on Saint Paul place, or around (the Viaduct bar is one of the best to do afterworks). You have also Shoreditch not too far.
Yes, a lot of afterworks, senior coffee chats, and events organized around the workplace. Sometimes, the firm booked some places/ hotels for drinks.
