The Role
It was a very enjoyable experience. Even if you find yourself not liking the work you do or even the industry you work in, there are plenty of opportunities to shadow other parts of the business, find something you like and attend social events.
I feel like they understand my technical capabilities hence why my internship project is actually going to be used.
Absolutely amazing. Anytime I needed any assistance, there was somebody around who is an expert and is more than happy to answer your questions.
Good balance. You can work as much as you want to (within reason).
My project is going to be used in important areas. I.e. if my code breaks then it is very high priority to fix because it affects the bank directly.
Developed key technical skills within the area of software development. I touched over 6 languages and had exposure to many areas of technology.
The Company
Everyone is trying to do work. Quiet. Some employees are chatty - which is good.
There wasn't much to organise in Technology. A lot of HR events to start with but after you settle into your team; you just work on your project.
Nothing that personal. They gave me a project that motivated me to learn but ultimately I learnt everything myself.
Flexi Time
Subsidised/Company Gym
Company Parties/Events
Good. There are plenty of jobs for those who want it and are good. Don't believe the news about Brexit reducing recruitment!
The Culture
It was okay.
I was lucky to be working in a city I study in. For anyone who comes from out of London, they will find it expensive (but I guess I was used to it).
There is an amazing night life if you want it.
A few. But you usually make activities yourself.
