The Role
I really enjoyed my internship. I thought the 4 weeks was very valuable and a great insight into what is it actually like to work as a graduate at Savills. The internship was very social with lots of activities organised throughout the month, meaning we all got to know each other really well.
I think that my colleagues did value my contribution over the month I have been here and I competed meaningful work to help them in their roles. I was often taken along to meetings and site visits as part of the Strategic Investment Advisory Team contextualising the work I was doing.
I received a very good level of guidance and advice throughout the month and every one was very keen to help. My mentor was extremely helpful in helping me with CV's and the application process that will follow the internship.
I was given work by many different members of my team, this enabled me to learn different directors roles in my team and get a grasp of a number of projects SIA are working on.
I had the opportunity to work on real projects, attend meetings and inspections, improve my excel skills, compile comparable evidence and work on research reports.
This month has improved my confidence, speed, time management and ability with my written work as well as improved my social abilities that I will carry forward into my graduate life.
The Company
The right balance of a friendly, fun atmosphere and hard work.
It was incredibly well organised the HR team made sure everything was done efficiently. They produced checklists to make sure everything was done on time and I found these really useful. I was always surprised at how efficient things were and it was great not to have to worry about the admin side not being completed.
The team took me to site visits, which was really beneficial to my learning. They also held departmental talks through the London office, which gave you an introduction to all the different departments in Savills, which was extremely helpful.
Sports and Social Club
I would definitely consider applying for the grad scheme and will try my best to receive a place. Savills would be a great company to work for because it is entrepreneurial in nature and cares about its employees. The graduate scheme seems like a good starting point for a career in real estate and will help you progress and achieve your career ambitions.
The Culture
Yes, during the month there was lots of opportunities to socialise with other interns as well as a number of activities giving us the chance to meet the current graduates.
I stayed in student halls in Great Portland Street with friends from university also doing summer placements. The halls were great in terms of location, but had limited cooking facilities so we ate out a lot.
The Nightlife was great, with interns and graduates often all going out together after work for drinks.
There were lots of opportunities, I went to company drinks with the current graduate in my team quite regularly, and was asked to play Netball for Savills. I feel this gave me a real insight into what life as a graduate at Savills would be.
