  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • I was given quite a bit of support, I would speak to my boss on a daily basis in the evenings, he would review my objectives and my plan of action, ask me if I had any problems and advise me accordingly. Overall I would say that he gave me invaluable support and guidance and really helped me achieve my objectives.

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • I would often work quite hard to achieve all my objectives and ensure all my work was of a high quality. I was able to strike a work-life balance and I managed to have enough time for appropriate levels of recreational activities that helped me relax after work, as long as you work hard and are punctual the job is quite manageable.

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • The other interns were quite friendly, they mostly came from a similar academic background and shared a similar perspective in life. The organization arranged for several events in which we got to meet and talk about our experiences. I would meet other interns everyday for lunch and we would often go out after work hours to talk about our experiences and get to know each other on a more personal level.

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • I lived at home and I commuted to work, the cost of living in terms of food is quite reasonable given the location. It isn't very expensive however you should be willing to spend a bit more than you are accustomed to, travel costs are similar to what you would find in other parts of the city. There is a mall in close proximity and there is quite a bit of variety in terms of what you can have to eat.

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
