The Role
The internship was very immersible while the role was more market focused than I previously anticipated. The Treasury department is very dynamic with numerous different functions that attracts a variety of skill sets.
The team have been very engaging and will always be available to answer any questions.
All questions and guidance on new systems were provided swiftly.
The first couple weeks were spent getting to grips with the function and the system. Following that I was involved with day to day activities similar to that of permanent employees.
Once things started going I was given the responsibility of managing the EUR and Dollar books of the team.
The skills and knowledge learnt have been very relatable and will easily be transferable to future roles.
The Company
The atmosphere is very focused but also joyful at times.
It is apparent that HR cares about the interns, however they would do well to organise a few more networking/social events to get to know other interns and departments.
The first couple days were spent undergoing technical training. After that, further training could be found on the intranet.

Company Parties/Events
It appears that Barclays intends to promote the majority of its interns as opposed to some other investment banks.
The Culture
There were a few social events but too many should not be expected.
London is naturally expensive, however Barclays provides a one off living expense for the duration of the internship.
Nightlife can vary depending on the age and culture of the team. The majority are however not avid nightlife goers.
There were a number of charity activities run in line with Rio 2016 Olympics theme.
