The Role
Really enjoyed it, got to take part in different kinds of roles and opportunities to work in different departments. Work was dynamic and engaging
Work I did was very much appreciated and I was treated as though I was one of them. Everybody was very caring and interested in what I was doing
Lots of support. Had an individual mentor who ensured I understood the work I was doing and could ask if needed help. Support was offered by others too and felt as though I could ask if I needed help or if I had a problem
Always had work given to me that was not too overwhelming, but manageable. If I did not have work to do I could easily ask someone who would give me a few bits to do, was never left doing nothing or put under too much pressure.
Some responsibility, work was often quite independent. Could always get my mentor/colleagues to check through what I had done. Lots of assistance in projects and felt like the work I did was enough to have a good input but never felt out of my depth with what I was responsible for
Will be very useful beyond degree - if I apply for a masters or get a job after I graduate, especially for a planning career. Have learnt a lot about things I was unaware of that will be so useful in the future - communication, organisation, policies, real life situations.
The Company
People got on very well and were friends. Light-hearted atmosphere, people were friendly and chatty
Very well organised. Had my own personal mentor who had work set up for me. Had my own seating space and computer details. Grad team were very organised with setting me up and making sure everything was OK. No issues with disorganisation or miscommunication
Was able to learn a lot on the job and gain skills as I went a long. As it was only a 4 week internship there was not much training. May have been useful to have half a day of explaining a little more about the planning department in particular, but was able to adapt quickly and learn on the job. Everything was explained well by my mentor
Sports and Social Club
Company Parties/Events
Very appealing, have thoroughly enjoyed my placement here and am really keen to work here in the future. Savills has a fantastic reputation and am aware that the grad scheme is highly regarded. My internship has highlighted this and having worked here for the past month, I could see myself working here in the future
The Culture
Yes, everybody was very sociable and friendly
Somewhat expensive being located in Oxford but was not too bad
Yes but did not go out much
Yes, lots of the team went running and cycling. There was weekly cricket and also other opportunities around Oxford to get involved with other activities and sports
