The Role
Really really enjoyed working at Barclays! The internship was well structured and organised, and the Graduate Resourcing were always very supportive. There's a push to work hard and perform but in the most positive way. I've done much better than I expected in my role. Really enjoyed working in Barclaycard! Relaxed vibes but a strong work ethic.
Colleagues all very friendly and respectful.
My day to day manager went out of their way to always make me feel welcome, and at any time I was in need of help or guidance they would support me.
The role I was assigned meant that I wasn't very busy but I took advantage of this 'spare time' to take on work in other projects and meet more Barclays and Barclaycard employees. If you find your role isn't busy enough for you, there is scope for you to take on more work to remedy this which is great.
Again, role specific I wasn't given many responsibility but the extra work I took on gave me more responsibility which is what I wanted.
I've developed my skills in strategic thinking and teamwork and I've learned the importance of approaching people for help. I think the biggest skill I have taken away from this is how much people value it when you take the initiative and push yourself out of your comfort zone.
The Company
Barclaycard was a great office to work in - more relaxed vibes than the rest of the bank but still full of really hard workers. Would recommend spending some time here if you get the chance to.
Really well organised by Graduate Resourcing team. Great speaker and networking sessions at the start to ease us into the work place and get us to know more people. Met some really interesting people in Barclays through these sessions.
They put a lot of time and effort into the development of interns. If there was any field you wanted to know more about, they always facilitated this where they could.

I began the internship without wanting the grad job but quickly changed my mind. The scope for innovation in this company is huge.
The Culture
At the beginning we probably socialised a little more before the work properly kicked in but we all got all really well and there was always something to do.
London is an expensive place so don't be surprised but it's still more reasonable than you'd think and there are some great budget things to do as well.
Really great - so many different nights out to go on!
There's running clubs and fundraising events within the company, and plenty of other opportunities outside too.
