The Role
Difficult to settle in to the routine of long days at first but really enjoyable when you're used to it. Very interesting experiencing the day to day work on site.
Everyone was very friendly and accommodating.
Line manager was extremely kind, friendly and helpful and was always contactable when I needed him.
Barely given any tasks, mainly shadowing engineers.
Almost none
Good to experience the professional environment and how to maintain a work-life balance. Learnt loads about practical engineering on site and important it is as well as the theory behind the design. Learnt lots of on-site terminology and new methods used in construction.
The Company
Very casual and relaxed, able to have a laugh with colleagues.
Quite poorly, hard to communicate and gain information about the tasks I was given. Not given much to do on a day to day basis.
I wasn't offered any courses as my placement was only 2 months. I was shown how to use common equipment on site.
I would be interesting in working for the company in the future as I believe it would be an enjoyable job from what i've seen on my placement.
The Culture
We went out for a drink with the office at the end of my placement.
Very cheap area of rural Wales.
Not somewhere you could have a night out, but I was commuting everyday from Cardiff which has a very good nightlife.
I wasn't offered anything
