The Role
It was an interesting place to be - both the permanent staff and the other interns were friendly and the work was fun.
Worked in a small-ish office with 9 other people who were all friendly and welcoming. They expressed an interest in me as a person and in my studies as well as my work.
My supervisor sat across the desk from me - I was able to ask him anything I needed during the day and every week or so he'd check in with my progress and give me guidance what to do next.
There were never days where I had nothing to do but some days were fairly slow.
While the tasks I was given were significant, I never felt too pressured to complete them - my manger understood that they were challenging and that it may be beyond the scope of my placement to complete them.
During my placement I have learnt a new scripting language (Perl) and how to write a Linux device driver.
The Company
While the people were hard working there have been moments of fun and laughter. Feel like I know them now as people as well as work mates.
While the process of making offers to interns seemed slightly haphazard, once I arrived everything seemed to be well organised.
There has been a couple of standard training days and I have been allowed to tackle tasks that required me to spend a fair amount of time learning new skills.

All of the interns have been invited to apply for jobs when the application process for graduate jobs opens.
The Culture
There were around 60 interns at the site I was working at - made some close friends over the summer and at least once a week there were big group events organized.
Cambridge can be a little bit more expensive than other places.
Cambridge has little to no nightlife.
Interns were welcome to take part in any of the company sports teams and social activities.
