The Role
Really enjoyed the placement. I think I got quite lucky the placement I ended up in since I find it really interesting and was given tasks which really suit my interests but I know that other interns were not as lucky. It makes me a little worried about applying for the internship next year
Got on incredibly well with all in my team. They were amazingly welcoming and I never once felt like my opinions weren't valued. Even where some of my ideas were a little 'blue-sky', they were always met with enthusiasm and interest. Again I have heard that this is a real rarity in the group since digital is the only area where new ways of doing things is actually welcomed/
Line manager was very supportive, gave lots of help and support when a family member passed away during the placement and when other family member was ill. Professionally I always felt like I was learning and improving my professional manner and when I was not sure what to do, I felt comfortable approaching any member of my team for help
Quite busy. Usually the days when I was most busy were bought on by myself (taking on extra roles to see other parts of the business). There were days when I did not have enough to do so towards the end got into the habit of stretching out a task which would have been done quicker because I knew there was nothing else for me to do
Lots of responsibility. I was actually very surprised and pleased at how many projects I was allowed to get involved with. There were projects which felt very important that I was not only able to be a part of but that I actually got to lead, which was great
I can't see how this will impact on my degree at all but it will definitely provide me with skills once I start in a workplace environment. Again I know that my experience is in the minority as a lot of interns are very disgruntled and disillusioned with LBG after this placement
The Company
Very relaxed. There was no dress code and work was very flexible. Friendly in my office and also in the other office I worked in (Chiswell St). Chiswell has a great atmosphere and is generally a very nice place to work. The offices are colourful and people and always happy to have a chat and let you know what they are working on
It could have been better. There were a lot of things which we were told to ask our line managers about but the line managers said they had not received any guidance on how to do this themselves. Positive was being able to have a call with my line manager before my placement started to get to know a little about my role and set my worries to ease
The personal development webinars did feel like a waste of time and it got to a point where I didn't really bother with them anymore. I know this was a common feeling amongst interns. The scholarship and internship are great programmes but the little courses we were meant to do to help us (like our courageous conversations workshop) didn't seem that beneficial
Working from home
Very appealing if I get the referal
The Culture
Lots of events arranged for the charity challenge and our whatsapp group also arranged some things at our accomodation
London is very expensive and I did struggle with money a little, given that I was having to pay off rent in a different city whilst living in london
Never went there alone due to fear of stories I have heard. Usually costs restrict us
not really
