The Role
It wasn't a natural fit for me, working in Retail Business Risk and working with a lot of data and excel spreadsheets, but it is something that I have really loved despite being unconvinced beforehand, and my analytical and excel skills improved massively
The team I worked in - despite being small and spread across the country - were all very supportive of me and made sure that I felt part of what they were doing. They also gave me tasks that actually made a difference, and sometimes tasks they felt I had best knowledge in.
My manager, knowing she wouldn't be around for a significant chunk of the 10 weeks, gave me the opportunity to work across two teams, but was also on hand if I ever needed any help. Similarly, it was very easy to approach my other team with any queries. They made sure that I knew from the start that no question was a stupid question.
There have been some days that have been less busy than others, but they will always have more tasks for me if I ask
I was given responsibility to ensure that a pack was up to date and sent out on Monday evening each week in time for a Tuesday meeting. I also took ownership of an excel document designed to update data on a weekly basis.
My excel skills have developed, which I have already used in studying data for my university thesis.
The Company
There was good rapport amongst the colleagues in the office around me, and all of the interns in the same building got on really well both in and out of work.
It was seamless for myself, but I've heard others did not have it so good.
My work colleagues gave me plenty of time free to be able to network, and actively encouraged and helped with it.

As of time of writing it is looking hopeful I will be offered a place on their Graduate programme.
The Culture
We lived in accommodation together, and there were events almost weekly for us to all get involved in, so we became an extended family very quickly.
I mean, it's London...
Again, it's London, so there's so much to do.
It was actively encouraged
