The Role
This placement was extremely enjoyable, the people and environment made the experience my best placement so far.
Was made to feel very welcome by everyone in the office. People always made time to answer my questions or arranged meetings with me and respected the outcomes of my project.
A lot of support was given this year with the project that we were assigned and I cannot fault the management and supervisor for their support.
Most of my time was taken up with a group project but I could of looked for a bit more personal work to fill a bit more time.
The task that we were assigned was very relevant to the business and our outcomes were taken seriously.
I believe that this placement has enhanced my communication and team working skills, and also my presentation skills. It also gave me an insight into the business aspect which I have not experienced much at uni. The skills I have learned will assist me in the rest of my degree and my future career.
The Company
Certain individuals made the office lively and a fun place to work in, but they always completed work on time. In my eyes they had the work balance correct.
There was an initial introduction to the placement which described to us the outcomes that were expected from us, and a colleague was assigned to us to point us in the right direction throughout the project. It was great having a goal to aim to achieve and to know the project was well supported.
The placement was only two months so training was not expected. They did however try and enhance out report writing and presentation skills throughout the placement.
Company Parties/Events
Working with this company in the future would be an enjoyable and rewarding experience. They treat their staff well and respect everyone's opinions. I hope to join this company through the grad scheme in the future.
The Culture
There was a large group of people who welcomed us into their social group where they attended football games and social nights. We were made to feel very welcome throughout the placement.
Cost of living and socialising was relatively cheap in Stafford and Stone.
The nightlife was ok. Good range of local pubs and restaurants but if a more lively night was wanted then Birmingham was not far on the train.
Yes, there were sports groups and other groups that I could join. However it was hard to see all the groups they had to offer as the placement was only two months.
