The Role
I really enjoyed the internship and had the opportunity to work on a variety of different projects, which I found very interesting and furthered my investment knowledge. The team was great to work with and provided me with lots of development opportunities.
I felt that my opinion was valued by other employees and was also able to attend several meetings with investment managers as well as a client meeting. The work I was given was meaningful and interesting, enabling me to learn a great deal.
A clear set of goals and objectives were set at the start of my internship and I was well supported by the team to achieve these.
There was enough work to do to keep my sufficiently busy, but didn’t feel stressed by the workload. There were also plenty of interesting articles to read, particularly following the outcome of the EU referendum.
I had a number of important tasks to do such as quarterly reports for clients.
My knowledge of investments and pensions increased significantly throughout my internship, which will prove extremely useful in both my final year at university and in my future career.
The Company
Everyone in the office was very friendly and always willing to help explain things.
The internship was well organised with a 2 day formal induction at the head-office. There was also a intern project to complete which gave the opportunity to collaborate with interns in different offices.
The 2 day induction at the start of the internship provided specific training for each role. There were also on-going training sessions which went into more detail about the different aspects of the investment role.
Very appealing. Mercer is a great organisation who encourage and support employees to gain professional qualifications.
The Culture
Yes, there were a number of opportunities to social with colleagues outside of work.
Reasonable
Plenty of bars/clubs to go to if you wanted.
Yes, lots of employees organised social activities.
