About You
I thoroughly enjoyed the insight. The work was exciting and I was able to find out about a variety of different departments and projects.
I always felt valued within the team. Everyone was keen to hear my input and interested in the work I was completing.
I met with my mentor every week to set goals and discuss my progress on the placement. I was also able to speak to my buddy whenever I had any questions or wanted to find out more about something.
The skills I developed will be incredibly useful in a job but are not directly relevant to my degree subject.
The Company
The insight was well structured. I was able to work on a variety of different projects and there was always plenty to do.
The atmosphere during the insight was great. Everyone was very friendly and helpful and I also enjoyed getting to know the other interns at the socials. There were lots of opportunities to network with a variety of people from all over the business and I found this very interesting.
The team I was working in spent time teaching me how to best use a variety of different research tools. I also had the opportunity to attend an Excel workshop to learn the most efficient ways to deal with large amounts of data.
I feel that the insight gave me a good understanding of what it's like to work full time within KPMG. I was fully involved in the projects and team events so I understand what would be expected in a full time role and I found out a lot more about the culture of the business.
The insight gave me a great understanding of the companies culture. I met a wide range of people and from this it was very clear that a friendly and collaborative culture is integral to the company.
The month was very useful in helping me decided my career path. I now know specifically what within the business I am interested in and have a clear idea of the career path I would ideally love to follow.
Everything Else
I was paid for the month of work.
There were plenty of team socials and also opportunities to meet with other interns. This was interesting as I was able to learn more about the experiences and roles of people all over the business.
The networking opportunities were well organised and very enjoyable.
I found out about the KPMG Network of Women which organises a variety of activities and events for women within the business.
I would definitely recommend this vacation scheme. I thoroughly enjoyed myself, learnt a lot more about the business and the team I was working in and had the opportunity to meet some really lovely people.
