The Role
It was very well organised and structured. Lots of departmental overviews and social events to support the job.
HR were very supportive throughout - a mid placement appraisal is organised to ensure you gain the most out of the experience.
Work levels varied, however there was always something to do. You are responsible to use you initiative in finding work to do and asking team members if they require assistance.
The team trusted me to use my own initiative from the outset, which immediately helps you feel like a genuine member of the team.
The practical experience and report writing is highly beneficial. Being able to link the theory with the practice is so important in successfully completing my studies.
The Company
Margaret Street Head Office is one of the nicest offices to be placed in. Every floor is open plan, and relaxed - it was great to be able to work so closely with directors. The fully serviced office offers a kitchen on every floor, and lots of other great facilities. Everyone in the office is up for getting out and about and socialising - this creates a really fun atmosphere.
Very structured yet flexible programme! The internship itself is planned, with a schedule to ensure interns gain an understanding of every department and the graduate programme on offer. Outside of work, Savills arranged various activities to ensure everyone settled in and had the opportunity to network. Various tours were offered to learn about significant trades in the area, and local history.
The training provided by directors and team members was fairly in-depth (for a month internship). This ensured that I was able to get fully involved in the day to day goings on.
Sports and Social Club
Company Parties/Events
Highly appealing - the internship has made me feel even more certain about joining Savills. Employment prospects are still unknown, however graduates who have undertaken internships are always considered more favourable.
The Culture
Placement students regularly attended social events together, and teams invited me out with them to various social events.
If you don't live locally then the cost of living is very high!!! The cost of socialising is also high, however often directors would kindly offer to buy their teams drinks.
The nightlife in the west end is very good!
Interns were invited to lots of events over the month. Towards the end of the internship their is a rounder's social between the current interns and current grads!
