The Role
I liked my colleagues, but the work was so boring. I was busy and had stuff to do for the second half of the internship, but the first half was very boring. The work itself is not stimulating, it's just a lot of fairly mundane tasks to do at certains times of day every day.
They were really nice and welcoming and helpful, great team.
My manager was always helpful.
For the first 5 weeks there were times of day where I had nothing to do and was incredibly bored. Thankfully I was given more stuff to do and so the final 4/5 weeks were much better and I was generally quite busy but not too busy.
I was given as much responsibility as I could have, which was quite a lot but not that much. The issue is that I don't have enough experience or knowledge to be given more responsibility.
I study French so it won't help my degree at all. It may help me in interviews and for my CV but I don't want to go into banking so I doubt it has helped much. Although I did of course gain office experience and a feel for what it's like to work in Market Operations at Lloyds bank.
The Company
It was generally pretty good in my team who were mostly in a good mood and fun etc.
Pretty well organised. My team were very organised in what they had prepared for me etc.
I'm not really sure how they 'invested' in me...
Above 25 days holiday
Travel loan
It's a fairly decent company to work for; the pay is good for the jobs themselves. Personally I just don't want to work in a bank so I probably won't be working for Lloyds in the future.
The Culture
Yes. It was great that we all lived together in student accommodation paid for by Lloyds.
Edinburgh - quite expensive, almost as expensive as London. I had my accommodation paid for by Lloyds, so it was only general living costs I had to pay for.
Edinburgh has a pretty good nightlife, especially during the Fringe
Not work related? I guess yes to an extent as Edinburgh's quite a big city. During the Fringe there is of course endless stuff to do, it's amazing and so fun
