The Role
My internship over the last nine weeks was absolutely fantastic. The people in Barclays are so supportive and the culture/values is great. My line manager and team provided me with challenging work but the oppportunity to get involved in so much was defintely very beneficial to my learning.
I feel very valued by all of my colleagues. All of them have been so supportive and have helped me whenever I have needed them at any time. This is one of the reasons why I would like a graduate position in Barclays or hopefully be a permanent member of staff in this organisation.
My manager was very supportive - one of the reasons why I have enjoyed my internship so much. She has been a mentor to me and a role model. The objectives that she set me were very beneficial to my learning. My manager also displayed all the values and behaviours at all times that our organisation upholds.
Very busy, always had work to do but I managed to stay organised which meant that all of the tasks were achievable in the timescales provided to me. Being busy though was hugely beneficial to my learning during my placement.
Often worked on confidential work and conducting meetings with Seniors - was given a lot of repsonsibility during my placement and I am grateful to my team for allowing me this opportunity as well as advising me beforehand.
I think all of the skills I developed for example, managing challenging tasks in constraint timescales, presenting to Senior Directors will assist me in my Degree and beyond as these are key skills for any career. The internship also helped with my organisational skills which is key for university deadlines.
