The Role
The experience was hard, but I did enjoy a lot of aspects to it.
The people are friendly and you get a lot of exposure to senior management
Compared to other work experience where I was just making tea this was perfect, they give you important jobs that actually contribute to the business
I worked a 8.30 until 6 day. It was busy but I was no where near as stressed as the banking internships are made out to be (this is heavily dependant on what department you are in)
As I mentioned the jobs were important but you always had guidance to ask any question as stupid as it might be
The skills I gained were mainly personable so highly applicable for future life, but you shouldn't do an internship to aid with your studies.
The Company
Calm which was nice, again this is highly dependant on your department so research what you actually want to do within the bank before you apply. Many people fall into the trap of just applying for markets or Investment banking when another department would suit them a lot more.
Very well, my HR coordinator was excellent, so if there were any problems I could go to her. In the division itself, you can tell they are well drilled have the internship process
The internship is 50% them wanting you and 50% you wanting them, so they work extremely hard to make sure you get the best experience over the 10 weeks so you learn and want to come bank.
Sports and Social Club
Subsidised/Company Gym
Company Parties/Events
It depends if I get the offer
The Culture
Sought off, it's like normal life If you want to go out people will be keen but there was only 2 or 3 actually events. These event were very fun though
It's London... (The £1000 relocation bonus helps, but you will blow on something stupid)
Good bars, but again it's London, if you want to go out you can
The touch rugby team is really fun, but apart from that there wasn't much. This wasn't a problem though because when the work picks up you don't want to have to go to random things. I was never bored though.
