The Role
> This internship was the most valuable piece of work experience I have had by a long way. I learnt so much, and even though the learning curve was steep. Guidance always helped me feel in control.
> One of the main draws to Barclays was the culture, all colleagues without exception made me feel welcome and were more than willing to take some time to sit with me to explain their roles and advise me.
> I was lucky that my team was small, so I had a lot of contact with my manager. This ensured that I was always given stimulating work that would add value and benefit the team.
> The days varied , but due to earnings season in the summer , it did get quite busy at some points.
> One of the highlights of the internship were my responsibilities and how I was regarded as an integrated part of the team. It is great to see you actually adding value and contributing to your team.
> The skills of my role in particular , are very multi faceted and so I will be able to apply them to nearly all aspects in my future working life.
The Company
> The atmosphere in the office was very friendly but work oriented which I thought was the perfect balance. At times of intense work the general atmosphere lended itself perfectly to optimizing efficiency, while periods of fun allowed you to have a really good break.
> HR did an excellent job at organisnig the schedules for this internship. A perfect balance of working at the desk and also networking opportunities across other divisions.
> They invested heavily, we had an intensive 3 day training course at the beginning of the internship, teaching us valuation and accounting skills.
Subsidised Canteen
Subsidised/Company Gym
Company Parties/Events
> They are very appealing, and I feel there is a culture here where they are always looking for good quality candidates and do their best to help them develop.
The Culture
> My department only took a small number of interns and so we were all quite close and had a good social connection.
> London in general is on the higher end of the scale, but it worked out in the end.
> There were plenty of company events, sports and social to get involved in. A great chance to get to know your colleagues more.
