The Role
I enjoyed the internship greatly, having had a different summer placement last summer, I can safely say that this placement was much better.
My collegues treated me extremely well during my time here. I was always treated with respect as well as being supported constantly. I was given work which I felt was always contributing to the project.
My managers always gave me support and advice specifically relating to the work I was carrying out. I was also assigned a mentor and a buddy. My mentor helped greatly with my log book which I had to complete during my placement and my buddy helped introduce me to the company and helped me settle down within the company.
I was very rarely left sitting at my desk with nothing to do. I was always given work to do and then checked to see if I understood the task and whether i was able to complete the task.
I believe all the work I carried out during my placement was always contributing to the overall project in a useful manner.
This placement has helped greatly in my progression as a mechanical engineer. Having already started on my way to become a charted engineer through work done by my mentor and the company, I feel I am ahead of my peers at University already and this is all thanks to the company
The Company
The people who were sat around me at my desk were all very friendly and there was always a positive atmosphere around my desk.
The placement was very well setup fronm the start. I was included in a design team straight away and assigned a mentor and buddy before I had even started. Meetings were organised within my first week to plan my placement objectives to organise some clear and obtainable goals.
The compmay set up and paid for my MPDS registration and send me on a 2 day basic CAD software course.
Flexi Time
Sports and Social Club
Financial Bonus
I would seriously consider coming back to this company
The Culture
With approximately 16-18 other summer placements at the site, there was a very good social scene
Ilived at home and commuted in so cannot give a fair mark.
I went for 1 night out with other summer placements and had a very good night.
There could have been more company organised social events
