The Role
I've really my year with Accenture - during my time here I've been on 2 projects, one of which was with a global leader in energy, and the other was an internal role with the London Innovation Centre. My first role was very project management oriented, which was great as it gave me an opportunity to learn many valuable skills that I will be able to transfer across to any future job role. My second role was a lot of fun, as the workshops I designed gave me the opportunity to be creative and strategic. This role also exposed me to a lot a C-suite clients and senior MD's within Accenture, enabling me to build up some great connections.
I have felt extremely valued by my colleagues all year, and at no point did I ever feel like an intern. Right from the start I was trusted with a lot of responsibility and was treated the same as any other full time member of the team.
This can vary a lot from project to project, but i've personally been very fortunate and have worked with managers with have always given time and support when needed. This is very much a 2 way process though and requires upwards management, everyone is very busy so if you want time and support, you need to find the time to make it happen and make your intentions clear to ensure you get the most out of the time you have with them, to resolve any issues you're facing.
Peaks and troughs on my first project - we had a very busy period in the buildup to Christmas but afterwards things were quiet for a while. My second project has been consistently busy, but this hasn't been a problem as the work has been very enjoyable. There have been a few late nights here and there but generally my working hours are pretty reasonable, and I have never had to work on a weekend.
Throughout the year as i've become more confident in my ability to complete a variety of tasks I have been given more and more responsibility - there is always work to be done being short of responsibilities isn't really an issue people here face.
This year has given me a few ideas of what I might write my dissertation about, and there are some transferable skills i've developed such as research. I think the main benefit is the change in my work ethic though, after a year of working full time I think I will find it much easier to keep on top of all of my work next year and hopefully avoid any all nighters.
The Company
Really good atmosphere in the Innovation Centre - lots of people of a similar age to me and everyone gets on really well which makes coming to work so much more enjoyable.
For me personally, there were no problems at all so I can't complain too much. However I know that 'the bench' was a big problem this year, meaning that a lot of interns had lengthy periods where they weren't assigned to a project which is obviously an issue as they're getting no real experience during these periods. I think this could probably be organised better to ensure interns all have roles for the full year.
The internship started with a training week which was alright, we spent a day in an Excel workshop, listened to talks and had some group tasks etc. During my first role, my manager arranged for me to go on a 2 day training course for QlikView (the program we were using at the time) which was great, was nice to learn a new skill and was entirely relevant to the work I was completing at the time. I do think the company could do a little bit more to educate interns about all of the different areas of the company, as a lot of rumours float around and everyone just relies on word of mouth really which isn't ideal.

Pretty appealing! I've been offered a graduate job here which I am likely to accept. Starting salary is really good, some nice benefits and I think it's a good place to start your career.
The Culture
All the interns got on really well and particularly towards the start of the year everyone would meet up most Friday nights for drinks. This died off a bit towards the end of the year as everyone became busy but the company put on some events to get everyone together which was fun.
London is insanely expensive. It can be difficult living here on an interns salary, expect to use your overdraft!
Nightlife is class in London. So much variety you'll never get broed. Expensive though which is a problem.
Accenture put on loads of sports clubs and societies that people can join if they're interested.
