The Role
I had a fantastic ten weeks, working on real projects that added real value to the team.
Having responsibility for real work meant that my colleagues were relying on me to deliver. This also meant that they valued me and my work as it was essential to the project.
I was given all the help I needed to complete my work successfully, not only from management and supervisors, but also from colleagues and employees in other departments.
I had plenty of work to be doing (even until the end of my final day!) but it was always a manageable workload and allowed time for breaks, intern meetings etc.
I took responsibility for two separate projects that are core to the running of the team, but had not been updated in several years. I updated and improved these tools with very little technical guidance from colleagues.
I have learned the value of time management and the importance of delivering on responsibilities at crucial moments.
The Company
It was a very relaxed and communal atmosphere where I could talk to anyone.
The training provided and the introduction to my team was very useful and all was very well organised.
We had an intense first week of training which was essential to gearing us up to work in a fast paced, corporate environment.
Subsidised Canteen
Subsidised/Company Gym
Company Parties/Events
They offered me a graduate position which I'm over the moon with!
The Culture
There was a large group of us that formed close friendships and we had a fantastic time in and out of the workplace.
Canary Wharf is generally expensive, but it is possible to eat and drink relatively cheaply as long as you know the right places. (Major supermarkets are a good start)
The area is always buzzing with dozens of bars and pubs.
There were sports opportunities, socials, volunteering days and much more that really added to the experience.
