The Role
I really enjoyed my internship, I felt like I learned a lot, not just about the specifics of auditing, but also about what it is like to have a full time job in general.
Everyone at KPMG was so welcoming and friendly. I never felt uncomfortable and everyone was really happy to help me understand the work I was doing.
My performance manager was really supportive. I worked in a team with him for 3 weeks which meant I could always ask for guidance when necessary or speak on phone. Despite the fact he was really busy he always made time for me.
There was so occasions, especially in the earlier weeks of my internship, when I wasn't always busy because the work was too technical for me to help with, but most of the time people found something for me to be getting on with and once I was more confident with the work I could take more responsibly and help with more difficult tasks.
I feel like I was given the correct amount of responsibility for the experience I had. When I was confident with the work I was doing I was allowed to take responsibility and even help others but I was never left completely to my own devices and had support when I required it.
I think the skills I have learned will assist me greatly in the future because I plan to work for KPMG when I graduate. The experience I have gained is priceless.
The Company
All the teams I work with were really friendly and we had fun, however this was appropriately matched to the intensity of the workload we had at the time. Overall, everyone was really friendly and I did attend a few staff social events, which all had a nice atmosphere too.
There was an issue upon my arrival when I could not be located on the system and it was uncertain who my 'buddy' was, which lead to a lot of confusion on the first morning. However after this everything seems to run smoothly, with emails in advance as to where I would be working the following week.
The company invested a lot of time into training me and making sure I had complete understanding of the tasks I was carrying out, rather than completing the tasks unaware of the significance they had. I was trained on a lot of the computer software the company use, which I feel will be of great use in the future.

Company Parties/Events
Dependent upon my final year results, I had received a place on the graduate programme KPMG offers.
The Culture
Yes, the social scene was great. Despite only being with the company for 6 weeks I attended a few events.
Not applicable because I lived at home during my placement and the social events I attended were company funded
Not applicable as I did not attend any nightlife type social events
Yes, I attended some social events and feel like more events will be available to full time members of staff.
