The Role
I personally felt as though everyone wanted to help develop my skills within the team, I was exposed to a lot of tasks and challenges which meant i could get the most out my placement. Forward planning by my project manager (Steve Paine) and my buddy (Alan Bradford) and myself ensured I had the best possible experience on site.
Even though I was only there a short while the site team made me feel welcome and were willing to help me and were very approachable people, they recognised acheivements with praise.
I worked closely with my buddy (Alan Bradford) and he provided a lot of support and guidance to ensure I made a success out of my placement, also the whole site team provided continued support
before i started my project manager, my buddy and myself sat down and agreed set tasks and objectives that i was to complete so i always knew what i had to do and never found myself without work.
As i was only there a short time (2 months) my responsibilities grew as time went on but the site team put a lot of faith in me.
The placement complimented my degree as my degree is based around construction engineering management so working with the site management team helped me a great deal to get a further understanding.
The Company
As a team we all had a good laugh together as there was a good mix of people and ages
very well set up, we all knew what i had to do and when i had to comeplete it by, my buddy and project manager supported me throughout
Again as i was only there a short while it was not practicable for me to get any training, however i know this would of been offered if i would of been there longer
Company Parties/Events
As a sponsored student with Costain I hope to work for Costain once Graduated
The Culture
The balance of ages within the site team was perfect, as a team we went out with subcontractors for nights out to encourage team bonding
I commuted every day to and from work.
Not great in the immediate area but central London was only 10 minutes away
As i was sonly there a short while i did not come accross many opportunities
