The Role
Thoroughly. The atmosphere was significantly more welcoming than I had expected before starting. The vast majority of people I have come across have been keen to engage with me and help me where possible, or just to ask how I am getting on.
Significantly, although this varied across desk rotations, simply because there were certain areas where it was not possible to add particular value. Every desk manager did, however, attempt to get me involved with the work where possible
I was in constant contact with my supervisors, who were quick to criticise constructively and point out where I had made improvements.
This was dependent on desk rotations, but on the desk I chose for my project I was never without anything to do, which was extremely valuable to my experience.
On my project desk I was tasked with market updates and spread sheet updates which were to be used for client pitches. Although my work was checked, there was a degree of responsibility and my manager showing confidence in my ability to carry out tasks that would add value to the company. This has been one of the absolute highlights of my experience
Although not directly applicable to my degree, the skills I have learned will most definitely be invaluable. Ranging from multi-tasking, to formatting, to a variety of functional and mathematical tools, mostly on Excel. I am confident that these will help me to achieve my degree targets
The Company
active and collaborative. All of the staff communicate with other areas and most people seem to know each other. There were team activities (including the JP Morgan Corporate Challenge) in which we were always always included.
Extremely. It was clear that those involved have put a huge amount of time and effort into each detail of our programme. There were some issues along the way, but none that could have been reasonably anticipated.
The vast majority of the work I did involved a member of the team spending a lot of time walking me through the process, normally longer than it would take them to do themselves. I was constantly asked if I would like to join in on client calls and internal meetings to further my understanding of the specifics of the job.

If I am offered the job here, it would be extremely difficult to turn down. Although there are some drawbacks to the company, the atmosphere and career prospects alone are enough to convince me that this is a good place to work.
The Culture
Yes, there were 5 of us, so we got to know each other well, and we were taken out for drinks normally once a week to socialise with different teams.
Not too high for London
Good pubs and bars nearby
There were, but the length of the placement did not warrant participation in any external clubs.
