The Role
My two main projects were interesting but the rest of the faily tasks were rather mundane.
I was given projects to do that would actually be of use to the company and was treated by senior colleagues as a respected contributor as a result
Little formal training but my line manager helped me through out my time.
Some days busier than others. Never too busy. The first few weeks were very slow.
My projects were entirely my own and worthwile but daily tasks were of little importance and responsilbity
Since the internship was in such a specific area i.e. Shipping, it wont help me in my degree. However, I have imporved my communiation and presentational skills a vast amount which will always be useful in the future.
The Company
A very quiet team, but also friendly so cant complain. No team socials outisde of work.
Clear work set out for me with a good appraisal procedure.
Some good training courses through out which will definitely be of use in the future e.g. a PowerPoint presentation training morning.
Flexi Time
Subsidised Canteen
Subsidised/Company Gym
Depends on your performance at the assessment centre, but if you are driven and work hard then you stand a good chance.
The Culture
Within our intern group yes, with other colleagues no.
Obviously London is expensive, but you get a Central London allowance to help.
No real nightlife in Canary Wharf itself, but Central London obviously ahs great nightlife elsewhere.
If you chose to research such schemes then yes, but I didnt. There were various sports programmes I believe.
