The Role
The work was extremely enjoyable. It felt good to get on with my own project that would contribute to the company overall.
The team was extremely welcoming and very patient with me as I learned my way around the various systems. The only recommendation I'd make is that more work related socials would be good.
Extremely patient and thoughtful, answered all my questions and more, did so in a way that felt like two individuals conversing, rather than a superior talking down to me.
Something of a slow start due to getting set up on various systems but I had an excellent project that was very flexible, allowing me to modify my targets based on what i could realistically achieve.
There was some input from team members but this only served to improve the finished product, ultimatey this was entirely my own work.
Excellent lessons to learn, and direct relevance to my studies in the new academic year.
The Company
There was a good balance between work and a friendly atmosphere. people encouraged you to talk to them.
The placement was set up to be extremely flexible, allowing both myself and the team to get the most out of it.
Support was provided for anything that I needed in direct requirement for the project, as well as some fringe benefits such as field trips.
Flexi Time
Subsidised Canteen
National Travel
Company Parties/Events
Some flaws in the recruitment process, but there can never be a perfect system, and the company is very appealing.
The Culture
Excellent social life, providing a different dimension to the experience.
Relatively cheap to somebody coming from London but still quite expensive for how small Aberdeen is.
Reasonably good. Due to the large social groups that went out, social events tended to go well.
Several excellent opportunities that were both educational and fulfilling, including field trips for the discipline and charity events sponsored by the company.
