The Role
Definitely my most enriching professional experience - very friendly people, lots of responsibilities, I definitely learnt a lot.
People were very friendly - I have been surprised compared to the other banks I worked for how people paid attention to interns, it was very rewarding
my managers have been very available even though the team was short staff, they took the time to show me how the desk work, to answer my questions and to follow up on my different tasks/projects
I've been really busy especially on my second desk. This is definitely a great thing because I had great responsibilities, however, I wish I had more time to shadow the other desks which I couldn't really do as I had a lot of tasks, combined with the trading game preparations
I've been lucky as I had a lot of responisbilities. On my first rotation i've been sent to client meetings and conferences sometimes by myself, and on my second rotation as the dsk was short staff I was on very interesting projects that were sent to clients. I was also invited to all the calls of the team
this internship confirmed my will to be in sales. therefore, I developed skills that will be needed during my whole career, besides, I developed a great network over the past few months and I believe this will be a great asset in the future
The Company
The atmosphere was really nice especially as I have a comparison base as I did a few other internships before coming to Citi. People were really friendly and I've been surprised by the fact that a lot of people at Citi either started their career there a long time ago and stayed at Citi - or did a broad range of banks before settling at citi.
I am thankful to the HR as the organization was really good, we got the opportunity to meet people from different divisions thanks to various conferences and a lot of events were organized after work to broaden our network
I had the impression that even though we've been there for a very few weeks, the managers really took the time to explain us the business and make sure we understand everything, so that they would see this time spent as an investment in the future rather than just time for execution needs
International Travel
Company Parties/Events
I would definitely see myself working at Citi and hope to have this occasion. As I worked in several French and American banks before I can say I found the bank I personally think I would be a good fit in as I really liked the culture.
The Culture
Yes there was the few events organized enabled us to meet plenty of the summer interns from different divisions, we organized weekly drinks afterwards and helped each other to network by introducing our teams we rotated on
London is definitely very very expensive even though I come from Paris -which now looks like an emerging country city compared to London...! My flat was £1050 per month but in the West side of London (Sloane Square)
Nightlife in Canary wharf is definitely not the best but accomodation are very convenient so it has never been a problem to go somewhere else more central after work
In London in general - definitely - I had the opportunity to do many exhibits and museums as well as concerts. I also started new sports while I was here and I do think london offers endless opportunities for activities
