    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • There were very few lows and a lot of highs. My work was flexible, meaningful and overall internship was well structured.

    5/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • 4/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • 4/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • Depending on a day, easy to find work, but was idle for up to few hours in a day initially

    4/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I was allowed to do bunch of responsible tasks. I was presenting during a conference, talked to external partners about their products (covering for line manager's absence that day) and worked on few tools with a lot of risk consideration requirements.

    4/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I was lucky to be able to use my skills to provide value and managed to improve them further. Since my performance was quite comprehensive, I left my comfort zone few times which helped me develop as well. Meeting new people and talking with them to share their experiences also helped me gain more holistic view of many areas of industry and beyond

    5/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • Open plan office meant that it's easy to communicate with others, but also distracting, especially at times I needed to focus. Some people were really loud and I had to use music to filter them out (I was listening to just audio noise for a while because music also distracts me slightly). Colleagues were nice and helpful whenever I needed them to and coworkers were respectful.

    2/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • 4/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • I was paid a salary and shadowed other teams twice, but there were no extra incentives to develop personally. There were no social activities organized by the organization (although there were few organized by the colleagues on their internship as part of Charity Challenge or otherwise). There were some training modules available for responsible business, but I wouldn't call that personal development.

    2/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Working from home

    2/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • I don't know yet, but I have good insight into it.

    5/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • 4/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • Transport was way too expensive (interns in London were not provided with accommodation if they had somewhere in London to stay, which meant that not only was I paying rent, my journey (over 2 times longer than colleagues with company accommodation ) was not subsidized in any way and very pricey. Socialising was fine, especially since I lived in London in the past so I have a good idea of what I like and how much it costs and people that I know from my school years that would go there with me.

    2/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • It's central London. The only complaint is that it's expensive.

    5/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • Charity Challenge and it's London. I have many friends living in London. Holiday allowance meant that I had a chance of traveling during the internship.

    4/5
