The Role
I enjoyed my placement when I had really challenging tasks or tasks that took me out of my comfort zone. These tasks occured about 2 - 3 times a week
I felt very valued by my team. It was a small immediate team of 3 consisting of my line manager, myself and a graduate. We had many opportunities to discuss any issues I might be facing and I was always encouraged to make improvement suggestions on what we were working on which were sometimes taken on board
I was very much supervised by manager but she always encouraged me to take ownership of tasks and told me to point out if she was being over bearing.
This went in a bit of a cycle, some days were really hectic, whilst on some days I had less work to do and did some of the discover learining training programs
I was responsible for a few tasks, however sometimes I felt some of them were basic daily administration tasks but then I had a few tasks that were important as they were going to be seen by our senior managers
Some tranferable skills I've developed are my communication skills as I had to speak with different colleagues and also make a few presentations. My team work skills were also developed as I did tasks with other departments as well as fellow interns. I have also improved on my time management skills and my attention to detail
The Company
Everyone just seemed to get on with their tasks, however they seemed happy to help when approached
Very well organised especially with the intern induction webinars for the first four weeks. Although there were some time keeping problems relating to when the program said they will relay information to us for example when we were told if we were going to be on the grad scheme or not
We had intern induction webinars for the first four weeks which I thought was thoughtful of them to organise. We were also made to do some mandatory training on discover learning within our first week. The discover learning tutorials were also available to us to use whenever we pleased
If you performed to a certain standard you were offered a place on the grad scheme
The Culture
I found the people wo stayed in the accomodation or were scholars so had previously interacted with each other had a better social scene than people who weren't
Expensive. Its London Plus the canteen food was probably even more expensive than restaurants outside
It's London, so great! There's something for everyone
Provided by Lloyds I don't think so but I finished work at 5 so I had time to attend other activities outside work
