The Role
I had a lot of fun during my internship, the team I worked with were a great group of people, the work I completed was interesting and beneficial although at times it did feel like I was just helping out and didnt have too much work, or work that was particularly important, but that is understandable as an intern only there for 10 weeks.
I felt like my colleagues valued me as an individual and the work I did. I think they cared about me but obviously as an intern who was only there for 10 weeks the work I could provide was not as valuable as every other colleague and that limited my ability to help.
Whenever I required assistance with any piece of work or if I had any question my manager was always happy to help out despite his busy schedule. There was a slight lack of knowledge on behlaf of my manager about my internship and some of the more intricate details of it but this did not prove to be a problem throughout the internship.
My schedule varied quite a lot over the 10 weeks, depending on the time of month, the other processes that were going on, and how busy everyone was with their own strict deadlines. When it was a particularly stressful period, the amount of work I had slowed down a lot and I didn't have much to do at all. At other times, particularly when I took over from another person when they went on leave, I had a lot of work but not too much that I was stressed.
Over my internship, I was given a fair amount of responsibility. There were occasions where I couldn't be given certain resposibility for important pieces of work mainly because I did't have the experience to complete the work. However I did take over a particularly important process from a colleague for a month which was enjoyable..
I don't think I will be able to transfer much from what I learn at Lloyds to my degree, but that is understandable as I think that is true for most / all degrees when working in a finance role apart from accounting and finance. However, I think the excel skills I have developed and the business knowledge I have gained will help me moving forward with my career.
The Company
The general atmosphere in the office, in my eyes, was perfect. We had a great balance of jokes and general chat among colleagues in the more relaxed periods of work vs a more serious approach when there were important deadlines to meet. This meant that work got done when it needed to whilst having a good laugh along the way.
In my opinion, the internship was quite well organised at a high level, but at a lower, more personal level it wasn't organised so well. There were a lot of learning events and interesting parts to the internship that made it unique that were organised by the Emerging Talents team who set up the internship, but the plan for my placement by my team and manager wasn't so seamless, which led to a slight lack of work.
I think Lloyds invested a fair amount in me. They organised a series of webinars all about careers and things to learn about, and my team had a large amount of coaching sessions for the whole team which were very useful. There were also a lot of problem solving sessions which gave me an insight into the problems faced by my team.

Company Parties/Events
Quite appealing. The impression I got was that they are a very reputable company and they care about their customers. The atmosphere was very good so working there full time would be enjoyable. Personally I would like to aim slightly higher but if I were to get a job with them I would be very happy.
