The Role
My internship has given me the opportunity to work together as a team, to approach challenging tasks. This is definitely a learning curve for me, as it is the first time I was so actively coordinating people from different business units and got involved in a range of areas. I really enjoyed working as a team and I genuinely feel that I belong there.
My colleagues looked after me well, especially my line manager, who is always giving me work to do and offer advice / help to me when needed. Every time when I finish a task, I will report to my manager and she will give me feedback so I can improve next time, which is good for my personal development. I feel extremely valued and that they would check on me if I am not feeling well.
I would say I was given a great amount of support.
I was kept constantly busy.
I had been given quite a decent amount of responsibilities.
The skills I gained from this internship is transferable, meaning that I can then apply to my final year at uni. Skills include interpersonal skills, critical thinking.
The Company
It's a fast paced, busy environment as we are sitting on the trading floor. Everyone is working hard and dedicated.
It was a well organised overall internship set up, I had a good introduction right from the beginning, several shadowing opportunities and chances to gain insight from other departments throughout my internship.
The company invested a lot in me.
Very appealing I would say. There are definite competitive skill sets in place.
The Culture
I went out for lunch with other interns all the time and during the charity challenge, our teams made of interns and scholars would get together to plan events and raise money together for Children In Need charity.
It was alright, obviously the cost of living in London is higher relative to other cities in the UK.
Pretty good!
Yes definitely. Charity meeting activities, boat party, curry night, leaving drinks, anything you can possibly think of.
