The Role
A good range of activities to get involved with if you express an interest. Felt encouraged to get involved with things I found of interest.
Very friendly and felt welcomed by members of staff from all levels.
Had a combination of a young graduate and a senior team leader, which proved very useful as I got advice on starting a career from the graduate as well as the knowledge of the team leader.
There were definitely busy periods leading upto final appraisals that involved doing extra hours, but overall this was a worthwhile part of the experience.
The chance to challenge others on issues proved quite limited due to the complexity and nature of the work, but the sense of importance and relevance of your work was definitely there, which is very motivating.
The theoretical skills as well as the operational knowledge and advice received from staff and operators will prove invaluable in a future career I'm sure.
The Company
Depended on who was in the office. Sometimes people could spend a lot of time offshore, and with a few staff members leaving there was occassionally only 1 or 2 of us from the whole department in!
Lots of introdutuction documentation supplied by line manager as a good way to introduce the asset I was working on, and a lot of thought and analysis went in to both mid-term and final appraisal.
Every opportunity that presented itself I was encouraged to do, no matter what the expense involved in travelling.
Flexi Time
Sports and Social Club
Company Parties/Events
Awating the results of an assessment centre
The Culture
Lived with all the other local interns and had quite a few social events over the summer.
Very cheap to eat out
Bars nearby were ok, but clubs weren't great.
Badminton sports club organised, but as quite a small office, not many regular activities organised
