The Role
It was a really great year and I was presented with so many opportunities to develop and learn. The work was just the right amount of challenging.
I felt very valued by my colleagues, who were all invested in seeing me develop and do the best I could/can.
I was provided with lots of support and encouragement, enabling me to develop greatly personally and be able to complete my work to the highest standard I could.
Occasionally I was too busy but this allowed me to learn when I needed to ask for help, otherwise it was just right. Towards the start I was less busy but that is the same for everyone starting a new job while you are learning the ropes.
Just the right amount for myself. I was scared it would be too much but they understand that you are learning. I was always able to ask for/take more responsibility if I wanted to.
The skills I have learnt this year have prepared me for the rest of university and my degree. I have increased my confidence in myself and my abilities in leaps and bounds.
The Company
The atmosphere was really friendly and everyone would help you if you needed it. There was always fun but people would be able to be serious and get the work done when needed.
My placement was well organised, for being the first ever placement student in my team. The overall placement could have been organised better at the start but I took part in the Student Quality Improvement Group (SQIG) where we were able to suggest improvements which have been put into place now.
The company invested lots of time in my training and development. The people also invested lots of time in helping to develop me and train me in the skills needed to complete the job.

I have been offered a place on the Graduate Scheme which I am very excited to accept and start learning even more after my final year at university.
The Culture
The Industrial Placement network was really good to have. However sometimes it was a struggle for all of us to meet up often because we were spread across the country.
The cost to live in Reading is close to London prices, there are lots of opportunities to socialise but I didn't make much use of these.
I didn't spend much time in Reading but the couple of nights I did go out were good fun.
I didn't explore this option as much as I should have.
