The Role
It was a great experience but overall I feel I could have learnt more and been given more responsibility.
Most people appreciated the work you did for them although I think not everybody valued the interns for what they could actually do.
I never had any form of review of performance and was often left in the dark about meetings etc but I knew my manager was there to answer questions if I had any.
Most of the time there was very little to do and so I would find things to do myself like make improvements to files. Certain days in the month were fairly busy.
There was certain responsibility in creating some reports and sending them out.
I have learnt a lot about myself and how to work in a big business, also how to fill time when there isn't much to do. In addition, I taught myself to be very skilled on excel and using macro's through excel and visual basic. Overall it was a very worthwhile experience.
The Company
Everybody tended to keep themselves to themselves and you could go whole days without being spoken to at all.
The organisation of the internship wasn't great, the company could get a lot more out of their interns with a bit of thought and organisation. If more time and support was given to organise the interns better it would be better for the intern and the company.
There wasn't any formal training involved in the role, however towards the end I was sent on an interesting course alongside people from the shop-floor.
Flexi Time
Subsidised/Company Gym
I think other further roles within the company could be extremely interesting.
The Culture
There wasn't really any social outings with the other interns, we tried to organise a few outings but nothing ever came of it.
Chester is more expensive than other areas around but worth the money you pay.
Chester is a great city with lots of excellent pubs!!
Nothing much while I was there but I am aware of outside events that others have been involved with.
