The Role
It was great. Actually sad to leave
Definitely felt like a valuable member. Also very friendly and welcoming people from day one, always happy to help with whatever problem I had.
Meetings with my line manager were great and she always tried to explain everything extensively to me, and was happy to answer any questions. Went down a bit when my manager changed offices as email communication is never as good, but she used to visit the old office just to catch up, too.
Usually I was very busy, but always managed to get an hour-long lunch break and spend a few minutes to talk to colleagues. In the last week and a half of the internship, so after I finished my intern-specific projects, I didn't have that much work to do although I kept asking for it. What was good though is that no one minded when in this period I left the office early or took long coffee breaks out of office.
My project was important for my manager's manager and I had to deliver it from start to finish, including the presentation of my work. So big responsibility there. When I asked for additional work, colleagues didn't hesitate to give me important tasks, too.
The Company
It was a typical office in terms of design etc. It was mainly fun because of the friendly people sitting around. There were social events on Fridays, or people brought doughnuts and cupcakes on their birthdays... The atmosphere was generally really warm
All intern-specific projects were to be delivered at a similar time, but it was towards the end of the internship and didn't cause a problem. There were good events organised throughout. The only strain might have been the induction in Edinburgh but you can enjoy that they put you on plane and a nice hotel.
Most of mentoring came from my line manager. In terms of training, there were a lot of courses online and I think that was the main training facility. There was no real training provided at the beginning of the internship, but in my position in Project Management I thought it wasn't that necessary

The Culture
Among interns themselves, it was great. On the intern-graduate line, not so good. Graduates were responsible for organising some events but there was only one at the very beginning. They promised some sports events as well but in London there was none. Much better job was done by apprentices who seemed really good at pulling all interns and FTEs together for fun events
