The Role
This placement was only really limited by the expectations we were led to believe were reasonable at the beginning of the internship, which didn't match the experience. This was only a case of the experiences being very different to what was expected, not more or less valuable.
My immediate team were all very welcoming, and were always happy to help out. I was introduced to everyone as soon as I arrived and that really helped me settle in.
I felt my manager made a great deal of effort to make sure I was supported adequately with all my tasks
The final few weeks tailed off a bit in terms of work, but this may well just have been circumstantial, to do with the fate of my department at the time.
The primary reason I would recommend doing this internship to others is for the transferrable skills I have picked up during my time here.
The Company
It was an incredibly busy time for my office throughout my time. Everyone seemed very dedicated to their work, and also to be enjoying it.
There were certain organisational lapses from early careers during the build up to the start of the internship that I think can be improved on.
There were a wealth of opportunities to learn about almost any aspect of the bank, with a huge variety of training sessions and modules to enrol in.
Subsidised Canteen
I could easily see myself enjoying working here for the long term, based on what I have experienced in my 10 weeks
The Culture
Greatly helped by a large majority of the interns living in the same place.
It was disappointing to see so much of our wages disappear on rent/living costs
Plenty of opportunities for a wide variety of entertaining nights out
