    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • The internship was a great learning experience -> as well as learning about the Risk role, an internship like this also offers the opportunity to learn workplace skills such as PowerPoint & Excel which can be taken onto any role in the future.

    4/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • I got on really well with my colleagues and they made me feel at ease. They were always open to me asking questions and tried to help me whenever needed. Equally, they gave me work relevant to the team and got me involved in team activities as much as possible.

    5/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • All of the team were available for support and the friendliest of the management is sky-high so they always seem approachable. The buddy system (where an intern is linked to a graduate) is really useful for this.

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • I always had a task to do but it was not always time-pressured. I had tasks set by the internship too which always kept me tied over until my team had more work for me; however, I never ran short of work and the work was enjoyable, offered opportunities for enhancing skills and learning new skills and it was varied.

    4/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I was considered on par with the rest of my team members in team meetings which really helped me feel involved and encouraged me to take part in discussion; Often, I offered my own work in team meetings and the team were really supportive of this.

    4/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • Can not stress the high level skills the placement offered - On my placement, through team meetings, I learnt Excel & PowerPoint and public speaking skills that most only learn later in their career. Although they sound like simple skillsets, they are hard to learn unless you put yourself into a work environment and in all, they will stand me in good stead for university and beyond.

    5/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • Quite quiet but that was because people were immersed in their work. Generally everyone was friendly and made an effort with others in the office.

    3/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • Getting set up on the machines took a while but after that, it was plain sailing.

    4/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • It was my team that decided to offer me opportunities to learn Excel & PowerPoint skills rather than the internship. However, I believe lots of teams offered many development plans to their interns.

    3/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Company Parties/Events

    3/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • I am yet to find out the result of my Internship

    4/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • HR tried to organise some social events but as there were so many interns, it made it harder to meet people as you tended to stick with people you knew in a crowd.

    2/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • Expensive

    3/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • Great nightlife

    4/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • There are some opportunities for sport but these are not well advertised so you have to look out for posters in the office.

    3/5
