The Role
I really enjoyed the 10 weeks at Rothschild in Global Advisory where I got deep insights into not only Investment Banking but also the Energy & Power sector. It was an all through positive experience with a great intern class and a well organised internship programme. The atmosphere was always pleasant and I had the chance to get in contact with incredibly smart and inspiring people.
The team I was working for is just amazing. Everyone is approachable, helpful and always happy to explain and answer questions. Everyone made me feel welcome and comfortabIe and also valued and appreciated the work I did. Also on a personal level the team is exceptionally great.
My teamleader was very supportive. He regularly checked if everything is fine and if the work I am doing is challenging enough for me. He also tried to make sure I worked with many different people in the team on different projects. I could always talk to him and tell him about any problems or issues. All in all a great supervisor/teamleader - especially on a personal level!
I was basically busy for the whole 10 weeks I have been there. Sometimes the work was very urgent and fast paced, sometimes more slow and research intense. Usually I came in at 8am in the morning. On busy days I left at around 11pm, on not so busy days at around 8pm.
I had the chance to be staffed on a live project where I was responsible for the VDR process and where I had contact with clients and external parties. However on other projects I would always deliver work to a colleague who was responsible for the final outcome.
A lot of hard and soft skills will assist me in my studies; such as working together in various different teams, analysing huge amounts of data and information in an efficient way, technical skills (Excel, Power Point...), presenting information in a structured, detailed, reasonable but also visual way.... Beyond the skills useful for my studies, I could get deep insights into the Energy & Power sector which I enjoyed a lot and which became a personal interest I will pursue in future. I also learned how to communicate on a professional level, how to
The Company
Very friendly atmosphere. People are very polite and very professional.
Very organised and scheduled. HR did a great job in communicating with us and was very helpful whenever we had questions or needed a problem to be solved.

The Culture
The intern class met regularly for internal presentations and we also went out together in private. Overall cool people and I made friendships for life...
London is just a very expensive place in general (rent, food, drinks). However it is an amazing city that offers unlimited opportunities in designing your free time.
During the weeks nice bars around where you can go for drinks. However they close early. So when you come out of the office late you might have to move to SOHO, Shoreditch....
During the week there is no time for activities outside the job, except for short gym sessions in the company gym. However the weekends are free.
